The Effect of Too Large Assembly Gap of the Screw in the Barrel

Table of Content [Hide]

If the assembly gap in the barrel is too large, what effect will it have on the screw of the extruder?

    1. Part of the melt will stay in the barrel of extruder screw for a longer time

If the working surface gap between the extruder screw and the barrel is too large, the amount of reflux material produced when the extruder screw is plasticized and the melt is pushed forward will be large. As a result, part of the melt will stay in the barrel for a longer time and become yellowish, causing discoloration or focal spots on the surface of the product.

    2. The output of the products produced by the extruder screw is unstable or the output decreases

    3. The pressure of the melt extruded by the extruder screw will be unstable

If the gap is too large, the pressure of the melt extruded by the extruder screw will be unstable, resulting in a large error in the geometric shape and size of the product section.

    4. The melt flow rate introduced by the screw and barrel of the extruder is also unstable

Due to the large gap, the melt flow rate introduced by the screw and barrel of the extruder is also unstable, which makes the surface of the product prone to horizontal wrinkles.
